This Page is for you parents. Every Week I will post what we will be talking about at SMART nights and give a short reflection on what we covered. This will help keep you all involved with the discussion at home so that way we may grow as a parish together. This page will serve as a window into our nights for both you and your child in case they are not able to make it to class that night. Please check here often for articles, videos, and discussion post that myself or the Core Team will ask the teens. Any questions please just shoot me an email and i will be happy to answer!!
This Week SMART Topic...
This week we are going to be taking a step back and reflect on why we do things. Why do we pass by the kid in the hall that is gathering his things on the ground? Why do we not stop the inappropriate joke that our friend just said? While we are reflecting we are going to look and see where out roots are coming from. When we understand where our ideals are centered we can understand what drives and motivates us to do the good in our lives or fall into the bad. We will be doing an examination of conscious so we can dive into these things. In order to understand why living a moral life is important like we talked about last week we need to understand our roots and what they are centered in. We will be building up our next few weeks to advent on focusing on Morality and the importance of it and how we can live a moral life.
This week the teens and I talked the topic of why it is important to live a more life with the emphasis on our interior lives. We talked about what our interior lives are and how we work at them. They way we practiced working on them during class was by doing a guided meditation. This is when we ask the teens to get comfortable whether that is laying down or sitting to just relax. I then play guitar while someone reads the script. This particular focus on standing by and watch the world happen around us. It use Jesus and how he was persecuted and we just sat there and watched as he is crucified. We then related this back to bullying on the internet and social media, the kid sitting by himself at lunch, or possible not saying hello to someone in the hall way. This is so important that we don't go through life living in our own little world as God did not give us all of his gifts to survive. He gave us some that we can use to help met others and grow his kingdom on Earth by working together.
